looking for PCE-CD emulator to run ISO

je suis desole, je ne parle pas en francais.
Hello, I'm from Japan and I would like to translate some PCE CD games into English.
I use Magic-Engine but it only runs CD games if I have the cd
I need an emulator that will allow me to run the ISO and MP3s because I need to constantly check my editting and progress and its too timely and expensive to keep making a cd. can anyone reccomend me an emulator for windows?

Hi, wachenroder!
Why wouldn't you use a free virtual CD-rom application, like Daemon tools or Alcohol 52%? You would just have to make an iso containing your data + sound files and then mount it in your virtual device so you can try your game with any emulator...
Don't hesitate to ask other questions or to keep us in touch if my solution worked.
By the way, there's an english section
right here.

Hi guys, thank you for your replies!
I'm having some hard times getting Magic engine to detect it.
I have the ISO and mp3s of two games, Xanadu 2 and Exile 2.
I am using the cue sheets from this site.
I use Nero to burn the cuesheet into an NRG image,
then I convert the NRG image to ISO using NRG2ISO convertor.
I then mount the ISO on a virtual drive program called Virtual Clone Drive.
Magic engine cannot detect it
even windows does not detect the ISO as a proper cd.
I tried downloading MagicISO to convert the NRG to ISO but it doesn't work. I also tried using MagicISO to directly convert the cuesheet to ISO but it always give an error message saying "can't find the file or the file isn;t CD image file"

May be the problem is that you didn't made the iso from the original CD , i have an older release of magic engine , i could try if it detect well iso's if you want ?.So Xanadu 2 is one you wish to translate ? I'm looking for hucard trainers to use with neo pc engine fhash cart(you know this?), do you know if it exists in Japan ?

By the way, wachenroder, have you tried another emulator? If you have to use it for translation purposes only, maybe that Ootake or Hu-go! (two free emulators) could help you... even if they are not as accurate as Magic engine.

Starting a translation work on an iso/mp3 image is far from a good idea since this kind of dump are improper.
Not only the
original TOC is messed up but the data track could be wrongly dumped aswell (dunno where you got it from so i'm just assuming for that part).
I would suggest you to convert your iso/mp3 set to iso/wav and use TocFixer to restore the original TOC.
Then you can use
Mednafen to work with your iso/wav/cue set.
Mednafen also offers debugging functions as far as i know.

The best would be to make your iso's from the original CD's no ? If you need an iso of Xanadu 2 i can send you one.

hi guys! thanks for the reply!
I tried working on getting Xanadu to work but had lots of trouble getting it to pass the TOC check.
today Itried the English version of Exile 2 just to test it. it passed the TocFixer check and generated a cue sheet.
I then ran the cuesheet through Nero which produced an NRG image
I then used NRG2ISO to convert the NRG to an ISO file
and I loaded the ISO onto virtualclonedrive.. unfortunately magic engine did not detect it the cd.
I'm thinking the problem lies in when I try to make the ISO out of the game ISO and wav/mp3s.
does anyone have other techniques or ideas on fixing this?
as for what game. I don't know yet. I already assisted in one PCE-CD game which was Super Daisenryaku. This was different as the translation was done solely on the data ISO and no mp3s/wav file.
I would like to do a more difficult game and am going through random PCE-CDs to see what seems fun and worth translating, and easy to work with.
I remember a long time ago, I had a copy of this interesting action RPG.. but I've lost that disc.. it kind of played like Zelda (no not Neutopia).

Gulliver ! Gulliver !

If you can't decide , i'm also suggesting Linda cube !
About the iso , try making one with cdrwin , i remember i had troubles playing space fantasy zone on the real system until i made an iso with cdrwin then it plays perfect.
Good luck with translation !
