Hi klaptra. Welcome on board.

Of course it can. You have some FAQ topics like this one, but they are in French. We have some good technicians here and they will help you soon. Please be patient.

Hi klaptra !

there are 2 solutions with the interface unit , or you mod the coregrafx and it's quite easy if you manage with soldering and can get the proprer din8 socket(hard to find but i can help you with it) BUT you'll get mono sound when using cdrom games(only red book audio will be mono , the rest will be stereo) , there is an other solution a bit harder to do ,you'll need an other din8 also available from me if needed , this mod should be done in the interface unit but actually i didn't managed to do it , one of the forumer have this model modded yet ,shown us how to do but yet not completely so at this time you should wait still it's not completed.

In french but if you need help tell us:

If you're afraid of the RGB cord choose the "mini sodipeng" it's quite easy , i can sell you the mini-pcb if you want , only 1 euro.

I'm wondering if you'll try to translate the word Sodipeng.... it's a brand , it was the official French NEC's pc engines importer , it means SOciété DIstibutrice de la PcENGine (pcengine distribution compagny)

SODIPENG AV+ RGB cord

Update by Cosmos99: it is useless to bore a hole in the mother board as indicated in this tutorial, it nowadays activates a function (the auto commutation of the TV in AV mode ) from now on quite useless. In addition the 4th wire proves to be useless in this case, and especially it should not be implemented if you intend to use Core with a cdrom ’² or supercdrom ’² because that does not go with this 4th wire (green on the photographs). But no danger to put it if it is for a core use only.
---------------------------------------------

Cosmos99 proposes to us a tutorial in images relating to the modification of CoreGrafx (also valid for CoreGrafx 2, and for SuperGrafx, not for the white PC Engine) to output RGB in addition to composite. Here photographs of the mods (to click on the photographs to obtain the versions large size).

---------------------------------------------

The modification presented goes only with this cable(now you know also with mini sodipeng...), which is also dedicated to the DUO!

The new 8 pins din socket, it is the same format as the 5 pins din socket but 3 legs moreover, than one will take care to cut to the angle (see photo) because there is no place on the mother board to accomodate them; it is here that one will moreover weld 3 wires onto these famous 3 legs, the signals green/blue/ red, represented here by 3 wires red, brown and yellow.

We then will put these wires across the mother board in direction of the angle where the power socket is, useless to specify that it is better to use rather fine cables because it is very narrow in CoreGrafx… Here, the cables roughly speaking make 1 mm!

Following operation: one turned over CoreGrafx! An overall photograph to see where must have passed our 3 cables and especially welded!! To note the presence of one 4th cable, the green. Simply withdraw this wire, to make the console compatible with the IFU and the SuperCD-Rom ’²! This wire is not used any more nowadays: it is the autocommutation of the TV in video mode

Zoom on the weldings… Attention, it may be not very readable on the photograph but the cables yellow, brown and red are well separated !!! One by line on each 1st pin! An arrow for locating the pin for the green cable as well!

just about the hole , not more needed today -no translation-

It's finished -enjoy- :) (digest...)

SODIPENG mini RGB cord

Here, I could integrate the Sodipeng cord in a scart, it is a light version which does not include the autocom (one does not make use of it anymore today) nor external stereo audio outputs, there's not the place there… But it functions as the original cable as well, I used a little vero board cut out.

Based on the Sodipeng AV+ cord , see diagram:

diagram for wires and electronic parts.

I represented the electronic parts only once for more readability, one makes exactly similar for each column (3 columns - blue-green-red), the diagram is showned top(green side so). The transistors and the capacitors are placed above, resistances are to be welded below(no more place on top). All the usual wires not represented here are to be connected to the scart (purple-gray-brown-orange). What changes: the orange wire is to be connected directly to the scart without the usual components, that does not change quality , because we don't need the autocom anymore today(every TV now has a button to switch to AV mode).
