Welcome ladies and gents :)
This new forum is open to any public discussion, providing that it is kept constructive and flameless. The regular members of this place are well-behaved and able to moderate themselves. They share the same passion for retrogaming as a whole and the NEC consoles in particular. Trolls are not welcome here. Personal grudges should be resolved in private.
ABANDONWARE
"An abandoned software (abandonware for short) is a game that is not commercially supported anymore by its legitimate publisher since a couple of years. The original authors don't make money anymore on those oldies, which are then left in the dust. [...] The games still remain the sole property of their authors for a period of 70 years." (Definition suggested by the French Association de Sauvegarde du Paysage Vidéoludique.)
Game publishers on the PC Engine/TurboGrafx have always been fairly tolerant of the abandonware phenomenon. Since Necstasy is a non-lucrative website dedicated to the preservation of the NEC legacy, topics related to the ways and means of creating, using or obtaining ROMs and CD images are of course acceptable -- as long as they stay exclusively focused on the NEC consoles.
The sale of ROMs, ISOs or bootlegs is prohibited on this forum.
COMMERCIAL EMULATORS
Any topic promoting the use of pirated keys for Magic Engine (or any other commercial emulator like Glidos, Spectaculator, Anex86, fMSX, Joyce, Q-EmuLator, etc) will be closed without notice. Anyone initiating such a discussion or begging for a crack will be banned from the forum for a period of one month as a first warning. The second ban will be irrevocable.
Magic Engine is a commercial emulator that is actively supported by its author. This is not abandonware. Whatever your opinion about the 'ethics' of a shareware emulator, it is meaningless whithin the scope of this forum and totally out of touch with the economic realities of this world. Like it or not, an emulator is a consumer product like any other piece of software. Should the lack of altruism of some developers make you have existential nightmares, you still can benefit from countless free alternatives -- some of which are even open source.
Please show some respect for the hard work of those developers who, in exchange for a nominal fee, save you from paying a much higher cost for an equivalent and exorbitant hardware (not even mentioning the inevitable wears and tears of time).
SIGNATURES
In order to respect each and everyone's browsing comfort, please refrain from using heavy pictures in your signatures. A maximum size of 500x100 pixels at 30 kB is more than enough to get something nifty, without hampering the bandwidth of other users.
Remember that this is a forum which aim is to facilitate communication between members in a clean and simple way. This is not an advertisement space where people would have to crawl through in order to read your posts.
Any sig picture that won't adhere to this rule will be deleted without notice.
