Once great site will be sorely missed.

I first came to Necstasy 3 years ago when they had iso+mp3/mpc rips, and found myself always checking for the updates, pics, info, downloading the utilitaries, then eventually running my own hub after a few others had let the candle burn out. I will miss this site and its neat updates. Ultimately, the ungrateful bastards who whined, and complained about the site, were the final straw, and the site was shut down. You fucking ungrateful bastards that take and never give can go fuck yourself !! You ruin it for the decent folk like me, Blood, Azzman, Decalled, Hian, Indrid Cold, and all the regulars, and others that i might have missed, because of yer greed. Is it worth it?! I really loved this site, and now its gone. Sorry Square for the abuse of the language, but i really dug this site alot, and you know i tried talking you into changing yer mind, i just cannot help it.
No second thought from the useless retch's that leeched and never offered to help out. Yeah.... the site will always be there.......... as long as your lust still pumps through your veins and your ensatiable greed posions yer mind into believing almost anything. Square-we will always have private share, but still the net really benefitted from you and the regulars' input/hard work for the NEC scene, and it will be sorely missed.
Piss on you damn leechers, and i hope you are satisfied while you brag to your friends at all the roms you got, yet are haunted in your conscience about your disgusting behaviour when you chose never to pony up anything in return. May only the worst things happen to you.

Square, just think on the few people that were grateful to you and said thanks for your time spent on the site.Iso upload, information,etc...
It's a shame, as I was starting to like NEC
See ya around bro

Oh my friend how true you are. You should still like NEC though! Don't give up! There are many games that kick so much ass on this incredible system!
Square you should really re-consider the site. Take the iso's down if you do not want people to leech. It will teach them to appreciate the site more. Well, i doubt it, but you could still take the iso's off the site.
PLEEEEEEEEASE!

It's not a matter of the ISO upload only
I think Square is not gonna change his mind and I respect his decision.
And well, as long as Square keeps ripping, I'll keep palying NEC games.
Leeeeeeecheeeerrrrrrrr
Sigh......
Damn shame bro...

A new team is formed so as to keep Necstasy alive because, you said it, it would be a loss for everybody to see the site disapearing.

Oh geez. This was the first PCE site I wandered across... in I believe mid-2001 (different domain, of course). I will miss it greatly. Hopefully it will pull a pcenginefx and come back in some form.
On that note, how much space and monthly bandwidth did Necstasy take up? I feel altruistic, but if 1GB of space and 50GB monthly transfer is too little, then that's that.

I don't think Square is fed up with the PC Engine. It just has to do with the lack of motivation in maintaining a website that requires a lot of energy and community spirit (which are both sorely missing in the NEC microcosm nowadays). I hate to say it, but I fully understand his position
The real problem is not necessarily obvious to international visitors: we French users badly need a dedicated forum in our own language, and Necstasy is the only major one that remains in activity. Without it, there's nothing much left of us.

Well, NEC systems are old.
Kids,nowadays only think XBOX/Sony/Nintendo...
Making the page and the Forum in ENGLISH will certainly bring more old farts to the community.
Sorry to say, but in my opinion if the new team remains working in French, site will die little by little...
Expand it
Just my thoughts...

I'll miss the site too. When i searched for Turbo Duo/Pc engine a couple of years ago, the French sites were all of the good ones I came up with. (Necstasy and Nec-ro-pole) I know a little French I took in school so I could find my way around with little difficulty, not that it was too hard anyway. I don't think the language difference is really a problem, its usually just the leechers anyway who will see a site and be like "oh its not in english, it sucks" but even still they just come for the isos. a lot of the site like the tutorials were bilingual, and Square did a good job at that, but i never really saw the language as a reason for decline.
Actually I have to admit I took Necstasy for granted. I didn't go there nearly as much as i should have in its later days. and now I'm kicking myself for it because all of those scans were really cool, I liked the advertisements especially. But I didn't fully explore it, mainly just check once every 1-2 weeks for new news on the main page. and there was still a lot left that i didn't see but meant to, I just never got around to it.
Anyway, enough of my ranting, if I even made sense

I said a bit too much for a first post. I'll miss Necstasy, just like Nec-ro-Pole

but Square is a great guy who has done more than his fair share for the PCE scene and I support his descision, and I'm glad he still has the PCE and PC-FX toc databases, because those are excellent source of information as well.

Hi. OK, I'm totally clueless, but what was this concerning? Was it about NEC-Ro-Po disappearing? Or was it about another site (i.e. Nectasy)?
Truth be told, I've only recently gotten into really researching the PC Engine, so I never really checked out too many sites (I didn't have the time back then, now it seems that I missed out).
Anyway, thanks for helping out a newbie to these forums

Hey Steve :)
Necstasy used to be a website hosting game reviews and full ISOs. At its heyday, it formed a partnership with the now defunct NEC Archives and opened a common hub which aim was to distribute perfect rips. Despite great efforts from dedicated guys like Jam and a couple others, the collaboration turned out to be kind of frustrating (not even talking about the leechers not sharing back), which ultimately forced Squaresoft74 to shut the hub and his whole site down.
The hub was really one of the best things that happened to the PC Engine online community, but managing it didn't prove to be a gratifying experience. Now all that remains is the TOC database and the forum, which is thankfully still active.
As for the hub, I believe Jam and Odonadon have resurrected it some time ago, but I didn't have the chance to visit it yet.

Ahhh, thank you. I had visited Necstasy a handful of times over the years, but I never really knew what its raison d'être was.
I am annoyed with the handful of "wherez the ROMZ / ISOs" and "my CD-R don't work" threads littering the MagicEngine forums; I can't fathom how annoying leeches at a hub would be.
I've had a lot of fun browsing the forums here (despite the fact that I have a 3-year old's grasp of the French language). The "Backup Booster / Ten No Koe Bank 2" thread came in handy because I happened to be writing about those items.
Anyway, getting back to the original topic, it's a shame that Necstasy is in limbo now, but the TOC Database is a brilliant idea (for quality control), so I'm glad Squaresoft74 isn't
totally burnt out

.
Now I've got to scour the forums here for any discussions of Hudson's Summer Carnivals.
